Approval Trail for Confluence

Terms of service

Last updated 16 August 2026

These terms cover the Approval Trail for Confluence app. Your purchase, billing and refunds run through the Atlassian Marketplace and are governed by Atlassian's own terms; these cover the app itself.

What the app does

It records an approval against a specific version of a Confluence page, shows that state on the page's byline, and marks the approval superseded when the page is edited. It is read-only: it never changes your pages.

What we promise, and what we do not

We promise an approval will not outlive the version it approved. One edit and the byline says superseded, naming both versions, so a reader can see how far the page has moved since sign-off. If you ever find a page showing an approval for content that has changed, that is the bug we most want to hear about, ahead of anything else.

This is not an audit record. It stores the current decision for each page, not a signed, tamper-evident history of every decision ever made. If you need an audit trail for a regulator, this is not that product, and we would rather say so here than have you find out during an inspection.

Two limits worth knowing. Approvals are not available on live documents, because those change continuously and there is no fixed version to attach an approval to; the app says so rather than showing a state it cannot stand behind. And an approval covers the page it was given on: if that page includes content from another page, the source can be edited separately, and the app flags that on the pages where it applies.

The app is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

When something goes wrong

A page whose approval no longer applies says so on its byline, in plain words, without anybody having to check. If you find a page still showing as approved after it was edited, tell us and we will treat it as the highest priority thing in the queue, because it is the exact failure this product exists to avoid.

Support

Support is by email, in English, on a best-effort basis during UK and US business days. There is no contracted response time. If that matters to you, say so before buying rather than after.

Billing, renewal and cancellation

Atlassian bills you, not us. Pricing, renewal, cancellation and refunds follow the Atlassian Marketplace terms shown at the point of purchase. We do not hold your card details and never see them.

Your data

Covered in the privacy policy. In short: the app runs inside your own Atlassian instance, makes no outbound calls, and stores no personal data.

Ending it

Uninstall the app whenever you want. The approval records go with it, and your Confluence pages are otherwise untouched, because this app never wrote to them. Atlassian keeps hosted app storage for a short recovery period afterwards, which is their retention rather than ours.

Changes to these terms

If these change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that materially reduces what the app does will be said plainly on the Marketplace listing, not only here.
